The state of gaming today

The state of the gaming landscape continues to change and evolve. Multiplayer gaming the last console generation really took off and made getting the newest shooter at the top of everyone's wish list . Halo, call of duty, forza, gears of war, uncharted, all these games had amazing single player campaigns and when you finished that they all had continued life through multiplayer. Fast forward to the current generation of consoles and things are starting to change, prices of games haven't changed much since the ps2/Xbox era, yet what you get nowadays is changing. I'm referring to the slew of games coming out now that seem to be rushed and have half the content we are used to.DLC that comes out the exact day a game is released just doesn't seem right, and the games that come out as multiplayer only and are still full price are really starting to bother me.Games like Evolve,Star Wars Battlefront,Left for Dead and others are being released now as multiplayer only games and are milking the DLC to frustrated gamers. What happens when the servers are off for these games? And trading in the games are worthless at that point cause no one can play them anymore. So charging full price seems a little much, then releasing DLC days after release seems like a money grab, haven't we as gamers continued to support sequel after sequel of the biggest franchises? Haven't we paid enough for the consoles, accessories and games already? Didn't consoles used to come with 2 controllers and a free game? And don't get me started on the season passes being sold, that's almost a slap in the face to gamers by saying ok pay us $60 but we want another $40 for stuff that's probably already finished but we won't include it on the disc. And now you have to have paid memberships to even play online for the current gen systems. Now with VR on the horizon it makes me wonder what loophole the game companies will find to get more money out of the dedicated fan base of gamers .So what do we do? How as gamers do we make a statement to these billion dollar companies that we are tired of this practice. Do we stop buying the games? Boycott the systems? It seems as long as they pump out the same repackaged shooter, the more we as gamers buy it up.Maybe it's time we look at what there doing to get our hard earned cash and take a stand. If we as the gaming community do something then in return the gaming companies have to change there practices. If we don't things are only going to escalate to more outrageous antics.
