VR:The Future?

As the VR revolution draws closer, I keep asking myself is this really the future? We've seen these gaming niche ideas come and go like the groundbreaking Nintendo Wii and its motion controls to the PlayStation Move to Kinect for the Xbox but theve all kinda faded away and the tried and true consoles remain, a game a controller that's what seems to be what sells. So with virtual reality right around the corner with Playststion VR, Oculus and the HTC, will it deliver? I don't believe it will take over the console market, as expensive as the hardware and games are I just don't think there's a market for both. The hardcore gaming community will spark sales of VR but for how long? Will the gamers trade in there consoles for a VR headset? Will the prices of the consoles go down to accommodate the higher priced VR sets? Only time will tell, I just see this as being another fad that will last maybe a few years then slowly fade away as another generation of consoles is released. Anyone remember the virtual boy Nintendo released years ago ? How did that work out? I'm definitely interested to see how it plays out and try the VR for myself to see if it can replace my consoles. But the price of this new hardware is very high and will turn off the casual gamers until the prices drop. We will see soon enough how it all plays out when the first of these new VR systems are released, but until then I'll keep playing my consoles.
